The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) reported that cyber incidents in the country increased by 62.44 percent last year.

The country's Cybersecurity Bureau-National Computer Emergency Response Team (NCERT) handled 1,834 incidents as of December 2023—an increase of 62.44 percent—as reported by the DICT in a social media post on Jan. 9.
This is in contrast to the 1,129 cyber incidents in 2022.
"This highlights the Department’s dedication to fortifying defenses against cyber threats and ensuring a safer online environment," DICT said.

It currently manages 17,080 digital certificates, enhancing the security of online transactions.
Meanwhile, the National Cybersecurity Plan (NCSP) for 2023 to 2028 has been developed with a focus on three strategic outcomes: strengthening the cybersecurity policy framework, improving security for the state and its people, and enhancing the capabilities of the cybersecurity workforce.
"The Department is likewise all-in on prioritizing data privacy and ensuring robust protection of Filipinos in the digital realm," DICT noted.
"The DICT’s efforts extend beyond incident resolution to implementing proactive measures, strategic planning, and collaborative initiatives, strengthening the nation's digital resilience and security," it added.
