Davao City 1st district Rep. Paolo "Pulong" Duterte took to Facebook to complain about the alleged removal of a huge chunk of budget from his district under the 2024 spending plan.
"I also would like to inform all Dabawenyos, most especially in my district, that the House leadership has taken out P2 billion from your NEP budget for the district and left only a measly P500 million for Dabawenyos this year," Duterte wrote in a fiery post on late Tuesday night, Jan. 9
The NEP stands for the National Expenditure Program. It is the precursor to the General Appropriations Act (GAA) or national budget.
"To all congressmen ganging up on us, do not give me that kind of BS because I will not starve to death if you take my budget away," said Duterte, son of former president Rodrigo Duterte.
"Ang kawawa is yung mga Dabawenyos na bumoto kay PBBM (What's pitiful are the Dabawenyos who voted for President Marcos)," he noted.
Based on Duterte’s post, his district was stripped of P1.5 billion worth of funds from the original P2 billion.

Normally, the alloted budget for projects in each congressional district under the annual budget is between P70 million to P100 million.
"I also heard from reliable sources that even the senators are explicitly requested to refrain from putting projects in my district," Duterte claimed.
"Hindi ako luluhod sa inyo para mabigyan ng proyekto lalo na at may 30 percent pang kinukuha ang isang pekeng panginoon…Again, ang kawawa ay ang mahal kong mga dabawenyo," the former deputy speaker said.
(I will not go down on my knees just to be given projects especially since there's a fake lord who takes a 30 percent cut...Again, it's my beloved Dabawenyos who are pitiful.)
The P5.768-trillion GAA for 2024 took effect on Jan. 1. The current national budget is the largest ever in the country’s history.
