The ambassadors of the United States, Japan, European Union, and China to the Philippines are hoping for new opportunities for collaboration and closer ties as the country rings in the new year on Monday, Jan. 1.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko greeted Filipinos a Happy New Year.
“As the clock strikes midnight, I reflect on the beautiful moments shared in 2023. Excited for new opportunities, friendships, and adventures in 2024. May this year bring prosperity and happiness to all. Cheers to a fantastic year ahead!,” he wrote.
United States Ambassador to Manila MaryKay Carlson also expressed excitement for the year ahead.
“Ringing in 2024 grateful for the year that was and excited for the year to come. Happy new year, everyone! #FriendsPartnersAllies #HappyNewYear! Wishing our #FriendsPartnersAllies all the very best in 2024!,” she said.
European Union Ambassador to the Philippines Luc Veron enumerated what the Philippines-European Union relations would look like in 2024.
“Manigong Bagong Taon (Happy New Year)! Want a sneak peak of #2024? More provinces = more missions, 60th anniversary of (EU and Philippines), Advancing areas for collaboration, (and) Achieving our shared goals #EUinPH is ready to hustle and #LoveThePhilippines even harder,” he posted on X.
Despite the territorial issues surrounding the Philippines relations with China, Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian did not forget to greet his “Filipino friends” for the New Year.
“May the year ahead be filled with joy, success, and positive transformations. Here's to a year of growth, understanding, and collaboration. Wishing for flourishing relations between the people of China and the Philippines!,” he said in a post on Facebook.
