The event served as a kickoff activity that will pave the way for various activities participated in by the local government and the private sector.
Highlight of the event was the unveiling of this year’s logo that focuses on the religious, socio-cultural, and economic aspects of the celebration.
Two other highlights were the launching of the festival’s official music, “Vale Mi Ciudad,” and the roving trophy.
The program featured the talent and artistry of the people of Zamboanga through its music and dance in colorful, vibrant costumes.
"This year, we're not only returning our legacy. As a torch bearer of fiesta celebration of the Southern Philippines, we're also solemnly returning the glory, the prestige, and the focus to our Blessed Virgin. She is the blessed mother of Zamboanga; our unending source of hope, and unwavering light and guide,” Dalipe said.
Zamboanga Hermosa is the biggest festival in Zamboanga City held in honor of the city’s patroness Nuestra Señora La Virgen del Pilar or Our Lady of the Pillar.
It was declared part of the official calendar of events of the Department of Tourism this year.
