No DIY: PSA advises against printing Digital National IDs on PVC cards; fine up to P3 million

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) issued a stern warning reminding the public that printing their Digital National ID (PhilID) on polyvinyl chloride (PVC) cards, or any other physical format, is strictly prohibited.

The PSA said that only the official National ID cards printed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and delivered by the National ID Service Delivery Service Provider are valid.

These cards are typically made of a more secure material with tamper-proof features, PSA said.

Digital National IDs printed on PVC cards will not be accepted as proof of identity or age for any public or private transactions, the agency added.

The PSA reminded everyone that the official Digital National ID, accessible through the National ID website, remains a valid form of identification.

Those caught printing, preparing, or issuing unauthorized National IDs, including the digital version, face serious consequences. The Philippine Identification System Act (Republic Act No. 11055) prescribes imprisonment of three to six years and a fine of P1 million to P3 million for violators.

The PSA encourages the public to report any suspicious activity related to unauthorized printing by calling their hotline 1388, emailing [email protected], or sending a message through their official Facebook page.
