A private pump boat in the area rescued them.

Among those rescued were the operator of the ill-fated pump boat, said Police Lt. Col. Christian Torres, information officer of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

Torres said it was not immediately determined if the pump boat that came from Olango Island, Lapu-Lapu City was cleared to sail by the Philippine Coast Guard.

Some sea trips were cancelled on Monday due to rough sea conditions.

Cebu province has been experiencing inclement weather from the southwest monsoon or “habagat.”

On Monday, 16 local government units in Cebu suspended classes due to bad weather.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said that no untoward incidents have been reported in the province.

The State weather bureau reported that tropical depression “Gener” and tropical storm “Pulasan” have no direct effects in Cebu but the province will experience gloomy weather due to the habagat in parts of the country, including the Visayas.
