Ex-movie star, more local officials join Lakas-CMD

Award-winning actor and film director Roi Vinzon, alongside several local government leaders and aspirants for the 2025 elections, have taken their oath to formally join the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD).

Vinzon, known for his villain roles in classic action films and soap operas, hails from the first district of Benguet. 

He was the lone new entrant from the province during the mass oath-taking rites held at the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Sep. 11.

House Speaker Martin Romualdez, president of Lakas-CMD, administered the oath-taking of the party’s newest members.

“We welcome all of you to Lakas-CMD. We look forward to working with you to achieve our common aspiration of meaningful and inclusive progress for our country in line with the vision of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. under ‘Bagong Pilipinas’ (New Philippines),” Romualdez said in a message.

“Your decision to join our party manifests our shared commitment to serving the Filipino people with integrity, dedication, and unity,” he added.

Another notable personality who was sworn in was Masbate Governor Antonio Kho. Kho was joined by 12 members of the provincial board and 19 municipal mayors in the province. 

Former Lanao del Norte 2nd district Rep. Abdullah Dimaporo and 14 mayors of the province also became new members of the party in the same event. A total of 33 local officials and aspirants to various local posts from the province also took their oath.

Meanwhile, 17 local officials and aspirants from Naglarcan and Cabuyao City of Laguna also joined Lakas-CMD.
