Together again: Alice, Shiela Guo to reunite in Senate detention

From leaving their farm in Bamban, Tarlac to boarding a boat to Malaysia during their escape from the Philippines, Alice and Shiela were almost inseparable and they're bound to reunite yet this time, in the detention facility of the Senate.

This was after the dismissed mayor Alice, was arrested in Indonesia, the Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed on Wednesday, September 4.

Sergeant-at-Arms Lt. Gen. Roberto Ancan PA (Ret) told reporters in an interview on the same day that Alice will be accommodated in the same detention facility where Shiela is detained.

"Kasi previously naka-prepare naman talagang yung detention room for the family kasi magkamag-anak naman sila (Because previously that detention room was prepared for their family since they're relatives)," he said.

"At saka pareho naman sila female whether sinabi niya na by blood they are not related at pwede naman 'yon (And they're both female despite stating that they're not related by blood so that's fine)," he added.

Ancan stated that the detention facility has 6 bunk beds that accommodate up to six people which would be enough for the two.

Like with Shiela, Ancan said that the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will take custody of Alice for pertinent documentation before she gets handed over to the Senate.

Alice and seven others have a standing arrest warrant from the Senate for “unduly refusing to appear, despite due notices,” in the upper chamber's investigation on the raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) hub in her town.

In the arrest order dated July 11, the Senate also ordered the arrest of Dennis Cunanan, Nancy Gamo, Sheila Guo, Wesley Gui, Jian Zhong Guo, Seimen Guo, and Wenyi Lin.

In the order, it was stated that the non-appearance of the eight resource persons resulted in the "delaying, impeding, and obstructing" of the Senate panel's inquiry.

Once under Senate custody, Once arrested, they will be detained at the OSAA until such time that they will appear and testify in the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality chaired by Senator Risa Hontiveros.

In response to the supposed threats on Alice's life, Ancan said: "If there is a need for me to secure her, I will secure her."

"I assure their safety talaga at kung kailangan magdagdag ako ng personnel to guard them 24/7, we will do it (I would really assure their safety and if there's need to provide additional personnel to guard them 24/7, we will do it)," he added.
