Cops net P141.7-M shabu, marijuana in Ilocos region


CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – Police seized shabu and marijuana worth P141.7 million in the Ilocos region last August.

The Police Regional Office-1 said they recovered 2,053 marijuana plants, 2,000 marijuana seedlings, 6,170.27 grams of dried marijuana leaves, and 20,669.87 grams of shabu.

One-hundred twenty-one suspected drug pushers were arrested.

Twenty-five wanted persons, among them four gang members, were caught, and 22 cases were filed in court.

In the campaign against illegal firearms under Letter of Instruction Kontra Boga, 23 guns were seized in 24 operations.

Thirty-seven most wanted individuals and 314 other wanted persons were nabbed.

Police Brig. Gen Lou F. Evangelista, PRO-1 director, commended lawmen  for their achievements and and encouraged them to continue their efforts in making Ilocos a safe and secure region.
