Taiwan firms to hold job fair in Ilocos Region for 8,000 job vacancies—MECO

Taiwan has opened at least 8,000 jobs which could be taken advantage of by Filipino workers, the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) said on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

MECO Chairman Silvestre H. Bello III said the job vacancies, facilitated by Taiwanese agencies and employers, will be showcased in a special three-day job fair in Laoag and Vigan cities in the Ilocos provinces on Sept. 9 and 11.

“The good news in these job fairs is that prospective hires will not be charged placement fees. There will be no deployment cost for the lucky job aspirants,” Bello said.

Around 17 Taiwanese employers, recruitment agencies will fly to Laoag and Vigan City to screen and interview prospective applicants for positions in various factories.

Among the participating employers include I-Mei Foods, one of Taiwan’s leading food processing companies and Golden Brothers.

MECO said the event will be held at the Centennial Arena in Laoag City and the Provincial Farmers Livelihood Development Center on Quezon Avenue in Vigan City.

It said interested applicants must register through the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) registration portal, where they can select their preferred companies and access detailed information on job requirements and qualifications.
