Makati City Mayor Abby Binay spearheaded the promotion of the city government's latest campaign aimed at boosting the city's tourism industry and strengthening its ties with other cities and provinces in the country.

Binay first went to the province of Isabela to witness the provincial government's rice distribution program to thousands of its residents.

"Naging makabuluhan para sa akin ang saksihan ang pamamahagi ng Isabela local officials ng rice subsidy sa halos 7,000 PWDs, TODA members, fisherfolks, barangay­ tanods, child development workers (CDWs), barangay nutrition scholars (BNSs), barangay health workers (BHWs) at barangay population workers (BPWs) sa Ilagan, Isabela (This visit was really fruitful as I saw how Isabela local officials distributed rice subsidies to over 7,000 PWDs, TODA members, fisherfolks, barangay­ tanods, child development workers, barangay nutrition scholars, barangay health workers, and barangay population workers in Ilagan, Isabela)," Binay said.

"Ang mga bigas ay binili rin mula sa mga lokal na magsasaka sa Isabela. Naniniwala ako na tayong mga lokal na opisyal ang unang-unang dapat sumuporta sa ating local farmers at sa agricultural sector sa ating lugar (The rice was also bought from local farmers in Isabela. I believe that local officials should be the very first ones to support our local farmers and the agricultural sector in our area)," she added.

Aside from promoting the campaign in Isabela, the mayor also went to Tuguegarao City to participate in the celebration of Pavvurulun Afi Festival where she met Cagayanos and local leaders which included Mayor Maila Rosario Ting-Que, Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba, Vice Mayor Bienvenido De Guzman II, and other city council officials.

Launched on July 19, the "Visit a Better Makati" campaign encourages more visitors to visit and experience Makati's commercial district and heritage sites.

“We want to elevate the visitor experience to a whole new level when they come to Makati. We want to showcase the city’s distinctive blend of centuries-old cultural heritage and cosmopolitan lifestyle. At the same time, we also intend to highlight our social programs that have gotten better over time,” Binay said.

Under the campaign, the city government is set to distribute discount vouchers to visitors from its sister cities and municipalities. The vouchers, which offer up to 60 percent discount, can be redeemed at various participating establishments throughout Makati.

These include hotels such as Holiday Inn, Berjaya Makati Hotel, Shangri-la Hotel Makati, Fairmont Hotel, Ascott Makati, and Z Hostel. Other partner-merchants offering discounts for products and services include Agimat at Ugat Foraging Bar, Z Roof Deck Bar, Keepers, Chef Jessie's Place, Chef Jessie at Rockwell Club, Fiesta Philippines, Lobo & Kite Kebab Bar, Mich and Myl Nails, and Wine Drop, among others.

Makati City will also provide free walking tours to visiting delegates. These include tours around the Central Business District, the Poblacion Heritage Sites, the St. Alphonsus Mary de Liguori Church – Garden Way of the Cross, and visit the famous Salcedo Market and Legazpi Market.
