Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil, chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), has committed assistance to the organization’s more than 2,000 personnel who were severely affected by typhoon “Carina”.
Marbil said he already instructed the regional directors to grant special emergency calamity leave to those severely impacted by the typhoon for them to attend to the destruction brought by the weather disturbance to their homes.
“Our officers are the backbone of our community’s safety and security. It is our duty to ensure they receive the support they need during these trying times,” said Marbil.
Based on the PNP data, a total of were affected— 2,027 of them are uniformed personnel while the rest are civilian employees.
Marbil led the inspection of areas affected by the weather disturbance, starting in Central Luzon where he provided assistance to the the personnel of the Macabebe and Masantol Municipal Police Stations in Pampanga.
The visit also included an assessment of the overall situation in the affected areas, especially in ensuring that all necessary resources are mobilized efficiently to aid in the recovery and rehabilitation process.
Thousands of families were forced to flee their homes as a result of the widespread flooding in Metro Manila and other parts of the country.
