DDB backs DILG's 'BIDA' anti-drug dialogue campaign in Manila

The Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) expressed support to an anti-illegal drug dialogue campaign in Manila being spearheaded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

In a statement, DDB Executive Director Earl Saavendra explained that the DILG-National Capital Region's "Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Diyalogo: Kontra sa Ilegal na Droga" initiative brought together representatives from various sectors such as law enforcement, prosecution, courts, civil society organizations, educational institutions, youth groups and local government units (LGUs)."

He commended the DILG’s initiative to empower various stakeholders and key sectors in formulating their respective effective and sustainable plans and strategies for drug prevention, treatment and rehabilitation. 

Michael P. Miatari, of the DDB, discussed the “Revised Consolidated Rules Governing Access to Treatment and Rehabilitation Services," which provides a continuum of care under a public health approach in providing the needed services and interventions during the event.

The DDB also stated that it is a partner of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in empowering drug abuse prevention efforts in the Philippines.

In a previous event, “Our shared Journey: Celebrating Milestones in Community Based Drug Rehabilitation in the Philippines”, the project along with its partners showcased their achievements throughout the years of USAID RenewHealth's implementation to commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADAIT). 

DDB Deputy Executive Director for Operations Maria Belen Angelita Matibag featured a message highlighting the continued support of our international counterparts in promoting healthy, safe, and drug-free communities.
