BUTUAN CITY -- The Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) is offering free rides, or "libreng sakay", to commuters amid a nationwide transport strike that is being staged by some groups from April 15 to 16, 2024.
PRO 13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft has already sent instructions to all his subordinate units to provide resources to be used for free transportation or "Libreng Sakay" to be utilized in various places of convergence in the region to aid commuters who might be affected by the said strike on their way to and from work or to other places.
“The overall security, safety, and transport convenience of our citizens is our priority,” the region’s top cop, in his directive said.
“Rest assured that your PNP is always ready to extend a helping hand," Brig. Gen. Kraft said.
This "Libreng Sakay" initiative was among the directives of Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil for all police regional directors to ensure maximum deployment of traffic personnel and road safety marshals to prevent possible breakdown of peace and order and ensure the safety of our commuters/passengers.
“Our field personnel are already on the ground to assist our commuters and to maintain peace and order, and ensure the safety of our commuters and the general public,” also said Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer.
