Puwersa ng Bayaning Atleta (PBA) Party-list Rep. Margarita "Migs" Nograles got triggered on Wednesday, May 15 over the notion that having a strong personality is one reason why women remain single.

Nograles, a deputy majority leader in the House of Representatives, took to Facebook to air her sentiments on the topic.

"Bakit kailangan may jowa ka para magsurvive sa mundo na ito? Na porket wala kang jowa, bawal ka na mabuhay at gawin lahat ng gusto mo at pangarap monsa buhay?" asked the 33-year-old head-turner.

(Do you need to have a boyfriend to survive in this world? Are you forbidden to live and fulfill your dreams in life if you don't have a boyfriend?)

The Davao-based congresswoman also insisted that there's absolutely nothing wrong with women who are blessed with strong personalities.

"Bawal na ba maging strong? Anong problema niyo sa pagiging strong sa buhay, lalo na pag babae? DI BA KAYA MAGING STRONG NG BABAE? krimen ba yon?? So pag lalaki strong, papalakpakan niya 👏🏻 , pag babae ang strong 💪🏼, may shame factor?" she wrote in the same post.

(Is it against the law to be strong? What's your problem with people who are strong in life, particularly women? CAN'T WOMEN BE STRONG? Is that a crime?? So if a man is strong, he gets applauded; if a woman is strong, there's a shame factor?)

Nograles didn't mention the name of the person that triggered her rant. She said the person "didn't deserve the attention".

"Anyayare sa Pilipinas? Anyayare sa social media world? At 2024 na, bakit ganito isip ng mga tao? Or simpleng mema at papansin lang? Or baka kaya paid trolls?" she further said.

(What's happening, Philippines?  What's happening to the social media world? It's 2024 already, why do people think this way? Do they simply want to hear their voices or crave attention? Or are they paid trolls?)

Nograles is the daughter of the late former House Speaker Prospero Nograles.
