“Ang kabataan ay pedestrians din at gumagamit ng kalsada kaya importante na marunong silang magbasa ng signages at alam ang mga patakaran nito. Gusto nating bawat Muntinlupeño ay familiar sa rules and regulations at may disiplina sa kalsada para sa isang mas ligtas na Muntinlupa (The young are pedestrians too and use roads so it’s important that they are knowledgeable in reading signages and know its rules. We want every Muntinlupeño to be familiar with rules and regulations and have discipline on the road for a safer Muntinlupa),” said Mayor Ruffy Biazon.
The training was organized by the Muntinlupa City Government through the Youth Affairs and Sports Development Office, Muntinlupa City Department of Disaster Resilience and Management, and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority to equip young learners with proper ways to observe road, bicycle and traffic safety, and to familiarize them with the proper traffic signs and symbols.
Participants paid attention to the simulation-based training and were tasked to present their learnings on the topics shared by MMDA’s in-house lecturers.
Josephine Vergara of MMDA the road safety training for the young is being done to make them disciplined and for them to have a safety-first mindset.
As part of the culminating activity, student-participants visited the MMDA’s Children’s Road and Safety Park with a child-sized infrastructure and miniature building structures for an interactive experiential learning in observing traffic rules and regulations and by understanding road safety in a controlled setting.
