16 areas may have ‘dangerous’ heat indices on May 25


Fewer areas in the country may experience a “dangerous” heat index on Saturday, May 25, based on the heat index forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA said Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Bacnotan, La Union; and Aparri, Cagayan may have a heat index of 47 degrees Celsius (°C).

A heat index of 45°C may also be felt in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; and MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte, while Sinait, Ilocos Sur, and Tuguegarao City, Cagayan may experience 44°C heat index.

PAGASA also said that Calayan, Cagayan; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Aborlan, Palawan; Cuyo, Palawan; and Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Del Sur may reach a heat index of 43°C.

It added that NAIA Pasay City, Metro Manila; Iba, Zambales; Cubi Pt., Subic Bay Olongapo City; Sangley Point, Cavite may experience a 42°C heat index.
