Okubo heads to CSG, 4 other senior officers get new posts in latest PNP revamp

Five senior police officials were given new assignments in the latest reorganization in the Philippine National Police (PNP) that includes positions for its campaign against illegal drugs and the Maritime Group.

Police Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan Okubo was named as the new director of the Civil Security Group (CSG) which is in charge in regulating business operations and activities of all organized private detectives and security guards, as well as the supervision in licensing and registration of firearms and explosives.

Police Brig. Gen. Jonathan Cabal was moved from the PNP Academy to head the PNP’s Maritime Group.

Cabal replaced Police Brig. Gen. Romaldo Bayting who was assigned to the Area Police Commander (APC) Western Mindanao.

On the other hand, Police Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta will assume the top post in the PNP-Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG), replacing Police Brig. Gen. Dionisio Bartolome who will be headed to Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit (PHAU) which is under the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (DPRM).

The replacement for the top post in the Directorate for Police Community Relations (DPCR) which was vacated by Okubo and at least two vacant posts following the latest revamp are yet to be filled up.

The order, which will take effect on Monday, May 6, was the third reshuffle effected since PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil took over the top police post last month.

Earlier, Marbil named Police Maj. Gen. Leo Francisco as head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to replace Maj. Gen. Romeo Caramat, Jr. who was tasked to lead the Area Police Commander of Northern Luzon.
