Manila suspends F2F classes on April 25 to 26 due to hot weather

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan once again declared the cancellation of face-to-face classes in the city on Thursday and Friday, April 25 to 26, due to the extreme hot weather.

The city government released an announcement on Wednesday afternoon, April 24, declaring that public and private schools at all levels are advised to shift to blended modality.

The announcement was made after the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) forecast a dangerous heat index level of 44 degrees Celsius for Thursday and Friday.

Lacuna-Pangan first canceled the face-to-face classes in the city on April 24 after the Manila DRRMO forecast a 43-degree Celsius heat index.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Manila DRRMO recorded this year's highest heat index at 44 degrees Celsius. 

Manila DRRMO reminded the public again to drink eight to 10 glasses of water every day, engage in less physical activity on hotter days, wear light-colored and loose clothing, and avoid staying under the sun too long.
