The Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) has organized research seminars are aimed at providing up-to-date, pertinent and efficient research findings and data to support the formulation of policies and regulations.
In 2023, the DDB administered seven research fora on drug abuse prevention and control where over 2900 participants from various national government agencies, law enforcement counterparts, local government units, barangay anti-illegal drug abuse councils, schools, and universities were in attendance.
The research seminars covered various topics, including barangay drug clearing programs, substance use prevention, drug abuse treatment and rehabilitation programs, handling children in conflict with the law and narratives of rehabilitated individuals, among others.
As part of its advocacy efforts, the DDB also organizes training sessions for the Indigenous Peoples (IP) and the “At-Risk Population on drug abuse prevention education.’’
“The training aims to deepen the knowledge of the IP groups on the harmful effects of dangerous drug abuse and its adverse impact on their communities,’’ the DDB said.
Recently, the DDB conducted the Seminar on Drug Abuse Prevention Education in Albay, Bicol to impart preventive measures against drug abuse and to improve their resilience.
Through this two-day training program, the DDB pointed out that the participants were empowered to become proactive anti-drug advocates within their local communities and among their peer groups.
