'I'm really okay,' says Moro singer Shaira after pullout of Lenka-inspired viral song 'Selos' from streaming

Moro singer Shaira, displaying her unwavering strength, reassured her friends and supporters on social media that she's doing well, even after her popular song 'Selos' was unexpectedly removed from streaming.

"Sa mga totoong kaibigan at concern po saakin, Alhamdulillah okay na okay po ako. Basta more Sab'r lang sa mga taong ayaw sayo at gustong kang masira. Maging Masaya lang po tayo sa mga Buhay natin, Ramadhan Mubarak," wrote Shaira on Facebook.

(To my true friends and concerns, Alhamdulillah I'm really okay. Just have more Sab'r (patience) with the people who don't like you and want to destroy you. Let's just be happy in our lives, Ramadhan Mubarak.)

It's rare to witness a Moro singer like Shaira making waves on various streaming platforms.

Dubbed the Queen of Bangsamoro Pop, Shaira's single 'Selos' (jealousy) has recently skyrocketed, capturing listeners' attention with its bouncy rhythm.

As of March 21, the song 'Selos' has already amassed a staggering 10 million views on YouTube, and some cover versions of the song have already reached millions.

A YouTube disclaimer wrote: "The content presented here is a work of parody and should be viewed as such. This work is intended for entertainment and is not associated with the original creators or any entities affiliated with the original work."

Netizens said the melody of 'Selos' is similar to Lenka's "Trouble Is A Friend," released in 2008.

On March 19, the team of Shaira announced that they had removed the viral song "Selos" (jealousy) from streaming after Lenka brought it to their attention and took action.

The AHS Channel, producer of Shaira's song, extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who enjoyed the song launched in December 2023 for their unwavering support. 

The official statement:

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh.

"On behalf of our artist, Shaira, AHS Productions would like to convey our heartfelt apologies to all those who have enjoyed listening to the song “Selos” as it is now unavailable in all online streaming platforms.

"This is a voluntary act on our end as we are still making arrangements with regards to the legality of the publication of the song. We have chosen to take it down from all platforms pending our agreement with the original artist’s management on securing a cover license for “Selos”.

"As most of you may know, the melody that we have used is originally from a song entitled “Trouble is a Friend” by Lenka and as of the moment, we are already in contact with her team for us to make “Selos” an official cover.

"To those who have been entertained by Shaira’s cover song, we are truly grateful to you for opening your hearts to a song that we once only made public for the sake of entertainment. We certainly did not expect that it will become this big to a point where Shaira will be known as the “Queen of Bangsamoro Pop”. We could not be prouder.

"We hope that when time comes and we will be re-uploading the song, you will show her the same love and acceptance.

"Again, thank you very much and we are hoping for your understanding.

"Peace and good vibes to all!"
