State-run Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has announced that pensioners living in Singapore and the United States can now take advantage of the GSIS Touch mobile app.
In a statement, GSIS said that its pensioners can now conveniently access their insurance transactions, as well as fulfill proof of life requirements or the Annual Pensioners Information Revalidation (APIR), all through the app.
Likewise, US and Singaporean pensioners may also download, register, and utilize their records through the GSIS Touch mobile app.
The pension fund will provide a one-time personal identification number (OTP) to their GSIS-registered email to get access to their data.
According to pension fund, 78 percent, or 14,000, of the 18,000 GSIS pensioners living abroad are based in the US and Singapore.
President and General Manager (PGM) Wick Veloso said that this decision was based on the suggestions made by overseas pensioners as it underscores their support for the government’s digitalization programs.
“We made it available to pensioners abroad as our response to their clamor to allow them to experience its innovative and convenient service. This shows that we listen to our stakeholders and we value their insights and perspectives,” he said.
The GSIS Touch was launched in 2020 to update pensioners’ status anytime, anywhere. Its facial recognition feature for APIR allows members to secure a receipt of their pension without physically going to insurance offices.
Other alternative modes for APIR can be done via Skype, Messenger, and Viber communicating applications.
The application was once exclusive to pensioners residing in the Philippines and had an initial user base of 37,144 members.
“We are already working on rolling it out to pensioners in other parts of the world like Europe, Middle East, and Canada,” they said.
“In the enhanced app, members can also view their updated amortization schedule for loans,” the GSIS added.
The number of members connected to the app grew to 1 million as it allows people to access their important records and information like pension records to insurance policies.
Moreover, pensioners can use tentative computations, loan applications and claims, and monitor their premium remittances and loan payments.
To ensure proper security of data, the GSIS Touch offers biometric login options like fingerprint or facial recognition for those with updated smartphones that has those features.
