Gov. Rhodora “Dodod” Cadiao handed the award to Galido during a ceremony in the capital town of San Jose de Buenavista this week.
“This award is very unique to me. Despite my numerous assignments in different provinces, this is the province that gave me this type of recognition,” said Galido.
The Antique provincial government recognized Galido as the first with roots from Antique to become commanding general of the Philippine Army.
His father, retired Lt. Gen. Alejandro A. Galido, is from the town of Sebaste. Other members of the Galido clan are from Pandan town.
With an Antiqueño in the top brass of the Army, Cadiao is hopeful that Antique can have stable security and away from the harm of New People’s Army (NPA) rebels. “Our province stands stronger and more secure,” Cadiao said.
