Maxime Juangco is set to take over as Akari’s libero ahead of the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) season.

After two seasons with the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws in the UAAP, Juangco is jumping straight to pro with the Chargers in the upcoming All-Filipino Conference.

This, as Akari’s resident libero Justine Jazareno announced she is taking her maternity leave from the squad a couple of days prior.

“Barvely charging into the pros is the talented libero from FEU, Maxime Juangco. Her MAXimum effort in the defensive end will elevate the  Akari Chargers to another level this season. Welcome to Chargers ground, Max!,” the team’s post said.

In her two collegiate seasons, Juangco saw split results as she suffered a nasty debut in Season 84 where FEU finished dead-last in the standings with a one-win campaign.

The Lady Tamaraws bounced back the following year and nearly contended in the Final Four with a decent 6-8 win-loss tally as they finished fifth.

Meanwhile, Akari is still gunning for its first-ever semifinal appearance since its inception in 2022.
