One person dies in vessel collision off Batangas City waters

At least one person died when two vessels collided off the waters of Batangas City on Wednesday, Jan. 31, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) said.
Citing reports from the Port Management Office-Batangas, the PPA said the accident happened at 12;20 p.m. on Wednesday near the Matoco Point in Batangas City involving the MV Ocean Jet 6 and the water taxi owned by the Hap & Co.
The MV Ocean Jet came from the Calapan Port and heading to the Batangas City Port when the incident happened.
The Philippine Coast Guard immediately sent its personnel in the area which resulted in the rescue of the passengers and crew of the two vessels.
Unfortunately, one of the five passengers of the water taxi died.
All the 105 passengers and 19 crew of the MV Ocean Jet were rescued. All those rescued were taken to the Port of Puerto Galera.
