CAMP NAKAR, Lucena City – The New Year in Quezon province was generally peaceful.
The Quezon Police Provincial Office said no major untoward incidents were recorded on New Year’s Eve to New Year’s Day.
“Ang pagsalubong ng mga Quezonian ng Bagong Taon ay ligtas at mapayapa,” said Police Col. Ledon Monte, Quezon police chief.
Ledon said they recorded no eight focus crimes – murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, car theft, and motorcycle theft.
Police confiscated P114,263 worth of illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices in 34 operations and 29 persons caught using and selling these were arrested.
Nineteen persons were reportedly injured due to firecrackers.
"Ito pong data natin ay as of 6 a.m. on January 1, tuloy-tuloy po ang pagkalap natin ng datos sapagkat ang monitoring po natin ay hanggang Enero 6. Mananatiling full alert ang inyong kapulisan hanggang sa araw na iyon at makakaasa po kayo na patuloy ang Quezon PNP sa maigting na pagpapanatili ng kapayapaan at kaayusan sa buong lalawigan,” Monte added.
