Singkaban Festival 2023 kicks off in Bulacan

The Singkaban Festival 2023 in the province of Bulacan kicked off on Friday, Sept. 8, with a holy mass in honor of the feast day of the Immaculate Conception and will culminate on September 15 in commemoration of the Malolos Congress anniversary at the historic Barasoain Church.  
 

Senator Imee R. Marcos, he honorary guest, was represented by Eliza Romualdez-Valtos. She was joined by Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando, Vice Gov. Alex C. Castro, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, employees of the Provincial Government of Bulacan and thousands of Bulakenyos in the opening ceremony of the week-long Singkaban Festival that showcases Bulacan’s artistry, culture, and tradition held in front of the Capitol Building, Antonio S. Bautista, Bulacan Capitol compound in the City of Malolos.

In Senator Marcos' message read by Valtos, she said the Singkaban Festival is not only a cultural celebration but a wonderful opportunity for everyone to be united, help each other, and give respect to all heroes in Philippine history especially those who defended the country's freedom during Malolos Congress.    

The Singkaban Festival 2023 celebration is anchored on the theme “LIkas na Yaman, Kasaysayan at Kultura, Pangalagaan Ating Pamana" which highlights the best of everything that Bulacan has to offer. The creative spirit of the people through various cultural presentations, street dancing, and art exhibits in a week's activities.


 Among the programs featured in the grand opening are the Parade of Floats showcasing the pride of each represented city and municipality in the province, and the launching of "Doon Po Sa Amin," the debut production of Dulaang Filipino which will premiere at the Nicanor Abelardo Auditorium until September 10. 
 

Various competitions and exhibits will be open to the public until Sept. 15, including the Singkaban ng Bayan, Singkaban Arc Making Competition 2023, and Bulacan Travelmart at the Mini Forest; Bulacan Cultural Costume Competition 2023 at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Museum/Robinsons Place Malolos; Tatak Singkaban Trade Fair in front of the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office, and the BELLEZA the interplay of Aesthetic Sense Featuring the Art Works of Lumina Art Group at the Guillermo Tolentino Exhibit Hall. 

In his message, Gov. Fernando took a moment to look back on the province's vibrant culture and traditions which serve as a testament to its people's resilience, a symbol of ability to adapt, and a showcase of unwavering spirit.  He said the Singkaban Festival is a time when they come together to honor their rich heritage that has been passed down through generations.

"Colorful parades, lively performances, and beautiful shows are a testament to our creativity and artistry,  Bulakenyans. This festival is a reminder that our traditions are alive and thriving, and they continue to bring joy and inspiration to all who witness them," the Bulacan governor said.
