
The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed 160 new Covid-19 cases in the Philippines on Sept. 7, bringing the country’s total number of cases to 4,065,295.
Meanwhile, no new deaths have been recorded this week.
Based on the latest update, DOH said 86 people have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,040,991, with 2,683 active cases at present.
The weekly positive rate as of Sept. 3 is 4.2 percent, with 514 cases out of 12,143 tests.
The DOH said the country maintains a high recovery rate of 98.30 percent.
In terms of healthcare facilities, the DOH reported 2,021 available ICU beds, with 209 (10.34 percent) occupied.
Non-ICU beds total 19,493, with 2,619 (13.44 percent) in use, while mechanical ventilators, numbering 2,198, have 82 currently in use by Covid-19 patients.
The DOH emphasized the importance of staying informed in the ongoing fight against Covid-19, despite encouraging developments.
The public is urged to maintain basic health precautions, including wearing well-fitting facemasks, staying in well-ventilated areas, isolating if symptomatic, and promptly receiving Covid-19 vaccines and boosters for added protection. (Zekinah Elize Espina)
