Laguna farmer reaps the 'sweetest harvest' after a decade of playing lotto

A decade-long dedication and diligence finally paid off for a farmer from Laguna as he reaped his best harvest yet.

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced on Friday, Sept. 8, that a lucky bettor, who is a farmer from Pagsanjan in Laguna, claimed his grand prize at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City on July 14.

A dream come true
As told to the PCSO, the winner shared that he goes to town daily to bet the same number combination.
Winning the lotto jackpot was a “dream come true” for the farmer and an opportunity for his family.
He added that the money would be used to buy a house for each of his children.
Meanwhile, PCSO assured that the winner's information will be confidential for security purposes.
Since the grand prize exceeded P10,000, a 20 percent tax deduction shall apply under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion or TRAIN Law.
As per Republic Act (RA) 1169, lotto tickets have a one-year validity, and if the jackpot prize remains unclaimed, it will be forfeited and added to the PCSO Charity Fund.
