Bogdan Bogdanovic and Serbia proved to be too hot to handle for a stacked Canada team, notching a statement 95-86 win to advance to the finals of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena on Friday, Sept. 8.

The Eagles fired from all cylinders, shooting an efficient 62-percent clip from the field to take down the Canadians who have plenty of NBA stars as their weapons.
The hot-shooting of Serbia, which marched to its second finals appearance in the last three editions of the World Cup, was typified by the performance of Bogdanovic who finished with 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field and 3-of-4 clip from the deep.
It wasn’t a one-man show for Serbia as well with the Atlanta Hawks star also getting ample support from Nikola Mulitinov, who posted a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Ognjen Dobric, who likewise finished with 16.
Marko Guduric and Aleksa Avramovic were also solid off the bench for Serbia with 12 and 10, respectively.
The Eagles had it going midway through the opening frame, unleashing a blistering 11-0 rally that turned a 10-13 deficit into a 21-13 advantage. Serbia took the driver's seat from then and dictated the tempo of the contest, leading by as many as 17 points in the second half.
RJ Barrett tried to will the Canadians back into the game, leading the way with 23 points but was not enough as they simply cannot break through the eight-point barrier the Serbians held for the most part of the second half.
Dillon Brooks also chipped in 16 while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, after exploding for 30 points against the Luka Doncic-led Slovenia in the quarterfinals, cooled down with just 15 points to show although he orchestrated the attack for Canada with nine assists.
Serbia now only awaits its finals opponent which will be the winner of the other semifinal match between Germany and the USA.
