LUCENA CITY, Quezon – Two Quezon congressmen asked retailers in this province to comply with the rice price cap under Executive Order No. 39 issued by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. last month.
First district Rep. Mark Enverga and second district Rep. David Suarez, House Committee on Agriculture chairman and vice chairman, respectively, reminded rice retailers in this province of the regular milled and well-milled price cap at P41 and P45 per kilo, respectively.
They said that the Departments of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Agriculture (DA), and Trade and Industry (DTI) would conduct regular monitoring of rice retailers in the province.
Enverga and Suarez are hoping for the strict implementation of the rice price cap which took effect on September 5 not only in Quezon but also in other provinces in Region 4-A or the Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon area.
Enverga said that the subsidy for rice retailers would be released starting September 9 and asked citizens to report retailers not complying with the executive order to their barangay officials and mayors.
Meanwhile, Enverga distributed assistance to 900 beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) of Barangay Bantigue and met the 97 members of farmers-associations Binahaan Corn Planters, Bukal-Antipolo-Tukalan Corn Farmers Association, Talipan Corn Farmers, Anato-Bigo Corn Planters, Isla Grande Organic Farmers Association, Samahan ng Magsasaka ng Gulay ng Pagbilao, Ibabang Bagumbungan Watermelon Growers Association, and Silangang Malicboy Pig Growers in Pagbilao, Quezon.
Suarez met and provided scholarship assistance to students of Southern Luzon State University-Lucena Campus here.
