8 village poll bets in La Union withdraw

CITY of San Fernando, La Union – Eight candidates, including an incumbent barangay chairman, here have withdrawn from the barangay elections in October.

Lawyer Reddy Ceralde Balarbar, Commission on Elections-Region 1 (Ilocos) assistant regional election supervisor and acting city election officer, said that reelectionist Barangay Catbangen Chairman Jeffrey Apilado withdrew his Certificate of Candidacy due to his petition to travel to America. 

Balarbar said that the seven other candidates withdrew their COC for valid reasons.
