Team USA paid tribute to its fallen heroes in World War 2 as the players and coaches visited the Manila American Cemetery in Taguig City on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton said he had a memorable experience and learned more about the profound relationship of the Filipinos and the Americans after the team's visit.
“Obviously, the love that the Filipinos have in the game of basketball, I guess we didn’t know what’s the history behind why that is. Coming here gives me [a] better understanding of our country and the Philippines, I think it opens the eyes for the people,” Haliburton said in an interview posted by Team USA’s Facebook post.
Austin Reaves and Walker Kessler also said that roaming around the cemetery gave them a glimpse of the patriotism of the fallen heroes.
“Being able to come out here and see all the names on the wall, all the causes comin’ in, it did put things in [a] different perspectives,” Reaves.
“Little emotional because when we get back home and think about it as much as you should to be here and actually see it. Just makes me very proud,” Kessler said.
The USA will face Germany in the semifinals of the global showpiece on Friday, Sept. 8, at 8 p.m.
