Security guard shot dead in Kabankalan City


BACOLOD CITY – A 60-year-old security guard was shot dead by two persons on a motorcycle in Sitio Bagacay, Barangay Daan Banua, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, September 6.

Police identified the victim as Solomon Nombre of Barangay Daan Banua.

Police Lt. Col. John Joel Batusbatusan, Kabankalan police chief, said the victim was riding a bike on his way to work when the suspects waylaid him.

One of the suspects shot him twice in the chest. The victim was declared dead in a hospital.

The following day, one of the suspects, Janro dela Torre, 26, of Barangay Guilungan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, was arrested, while his companion managed to escape.

Batusbatusan said that the suspects were traced in Barangay Daan Banua after a witness positively identified them as the gunmen.

Police have yet to determine the motive of the killing.

Pursuit operation for the other suspect is ongoing.
