BACOLOD CITY – A 38-year-old man allegedly hacked his 58-year-old father to death during a heated argument in Barangay San Pablo, Manapla, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, September 5.
Police identified the victim as Florencio Arquiza Sr.
Police Major Jaynick Bermudez, Manapla police chief, said Florencio went to the house of his son, 38-year-old Mayo, but he refused to let him in.
Florencio did not listen and forced his way into the house, resulting in a heated argument followed by a commotion.
Mayo’s brother pacified them but Mayo got irked and hacked his father with a cane cutter in the right arm.
Florencio was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Bermudez said the suspect was arrested and they are awaiting the decision of the Arquiza family if they will file a case against Mayo.
The Manapla police chief said the victim and the suspect had been involved in various and sometimes petty arguments.
