Filipinos satisfied with gov't on education, healthcare, disaster response — survey

Majority of Filipinos are satisfied with the national government’s performance in providing quality education and healthcare and responding to natural disasters, based on the OCTA Research survey conducted from July 22 to 26.
The results of the 2nd Quarter 2023 Tugon ng Masa survey, released on Thursday, Sept. 7, showed that more than 70 percent of Filipinos are satisfied with the government’s provision of quality tertiary and technical/vocational education (74 percent) and primary and secondary education (72 percent).
Most Filipinos also approved of the government’s provision of quality and affordable healthcare (72 percent), as well as its proper and effective response to natural disasters (72 percent).
Seventy percent are also satisfied with the government’s program to protect the welfare of overseas Filipino workers.
Meanwhile, Filipinos are least satisfied with the government’s performance in managing inflation (34 percent) and reducing poverty (36 percent).
Notable differences in satisfaction across PH
“Adult Filipinos in the National Capital Region (NCR) are the least satisfied with the national government’s performance in reducing poverty (26 percent),” OCTA pointed out.
Meanwhile, it said a lower percentage of Filipinos in the NCR are satisfied with the national government’s performance in protecting the welfare of OFWs (46 percent) and ensuring food security (41 percent).
According to the survey, a higher percentage of Filipinos in Mindanao are satisfied with the national government’s programs that provide quality primary and secondary education (84 percent), support quality and affordable healthcare (86 percent), and create more jobs (67 percent).
Furthermore, Filipinos in Visayas are the most satisfied with the national government’s programs for providing quality tertiary and technical/vocational education (82 percent), protecting the welfare of OFWs (77 percent), and providing quality primary and secondary education (72 percent).
The Tugon ng Masa survey was conducted from July 22 to 26, 2023, with 1,200 adult respondents nationwide.
