7 movies to headline 2023 Korean Film Festival in PH


Seven movies will be screened during the 2023 Korean Film Festival (KFF) in the Philippines. 

Under the theme “Ka-ja! Korea Through Films,” the Korean Film Festival will run from Sept. 22 to 26 and is presented by the Korean Embassy in the Philippines and the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines, in collaboration with the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), SM Cinema, and the Korea Tourism Organization Manila Office (KTO).

The festival will serve as the grand finale of the Korea Tourism Promotion month hosted by the KCC and is in support of the “Visit Korea 2023-2024” tourism campaign by the Korean government. 

The seven Korean movies that will be screened for free in the country are “Life is Beautiful,” “The Book of Fish,” “Bori”, "Director's Intention," "Everglow," "Gyeongju" and "Jukdo Surfing Diary." 

“Life is Beautiful” stars Ryu Seung-ryong, who is currently seen in the hit Disney+ series “Moving,” Yum Jung-ah, Park Se-wan, and K-pop idol and actor Ong Seong-wu.

"Book of Fish" stars Sol Kyung-gu and Byun Yo-han, and "Jukdo Surfing Diary" stars Jeon Hye-bin, Oh Gwang-rok, Park Ho-san and Jung Tae-woo. 

"Bori" is headlined by Kim Ah-song and Lee Lyn-ha, and  "Director's Intention" stars Han Sun-hwa and Lee Wan. 

"Gyeongju" stars Park Hae-il and Shin Min-ah while "Everglow" stars Ko Du-Shim, Ji Hyun-Woo, Yang Jung-Won, Jeon Hye-Jin and Kim Joong-Ki. 

Each of the movies was meticulously shot in breathtaking locations across Korea, such as Gangneung, Busan, Jeju, Gyeongju, Yangyang, Paju, and Sinan.

The movies will be shown at Cinematheque Centre Davao and various SM Malls nationwide.

Lights, Camera, ACTION! Meet the Mentor Series

Before the festival kicks off, the KCC will hold the "Meet the Mentor" series, now joined by K-Movie Producers in partnership with De La Salle - College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB).

Prepare to be inspired by the masterminds behind the box-office sensation of 2022, "Life is Beautiful." They are The Lamp CEO Park Eunkyung, and film production director Lee Yeonhwa, who will give an insightful discussion on the art of producing Korean movies.

“Meet the Mentor: K-Movie Production Talk Show” will take place at DLS-CSB’s Digital Screening Film Room, Design + Arts Campus on Sept. 21 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
