6 NPA killed in Bohol


CEBU CITY – Six New People’s Army rebels were killed in a series of encounters in Bilar, Bohol on Thursday morning, September 7.

Lt. Col. Israel Galorio, Armed Forces-Visayas Command information officer, said seven high-powered NPA firearms were seized following the gun battles.

Galorio said the encounters started at 7:35 a.m. while the Task Force Spear was conducting a military operation in Sitio Ilaud, Barangay Campagao.

Galorio said two units of the Task Force Spear – the 47th Infantry Battalion (IB) and 21st Special Forces Riverine Company (SFRC) – figured in the skirmishes.

These two units are part of the Task Force Bohol under the 302nd Infantry Brigade of Joint Task Force Spear.

Galorio said the fatalities belonged to the group of Domingo Compoc, alias “Commander Cobra.”

The Bohol Police Provincial Office (BPPO) sent personnel to the encounter area.

The Bilar Municipal Police Station and other police units in the town such as the Provincial Mobile Force Company and 702nd Regional Mobile Force Company mounted checkpoints.
