Water providers offer desludging services in Sept.

Manila Water Co., one of Metro Manila’s water concessionaires, has announced nine areas in Metro Manila that will undergo a septic tank desludging in September.

Barangays in Manila, Mandaluyong, Makati, Marikina, Pasig City, Quezon City, Rizal, San Juan, and Taguig City have secured their service, as posted on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Manila Water also underscored the importance of desludging. Proper wastewater treatment in barangays could help prevent the overflowing of septic tanks, especially during the rainy season.

Below are the list of Barangays scheduled for a siphoning this September:

  • Manila City – 764, 765, 767, 769, 775, 776, 778, 790, 796, 798, 877 to 880, 895, and 900.
  • Mandaluyong City – Barangka Ibaba, Barangka Ilaya, Barangka Itaas, Harapin Ang Bukas, Malamig, Pleasant Hills, San Jose, and Vergara.
  • Makati City – Bangkal, CEMBO, Guadalupe-Viejo, and Kasilawan.
  • Marikina City – Marikina Heights.
  • Pasig City – Bagong Ilog and San Jose.
  • Quezon City – E. Rodriguez, East Kamias, West Kamias, Krus Na Ligtas, Pinagkaisahan, Roxas, Sauyo, Silangan, Tandang Sora, and UP Campus.
  • Rizal municipalities – Angono, Antipolo, Binangonan, Cainta, Montalban, and Taytay.
  • San Juan – Batis, Kabayanan, Salapan, and Corazon de Jesus.
  • Taguig – Ususan.

This action fulfills the goals for Manila Water’s environmental protection and sustainability agenda. Without taking proper measures, public health would be compromised, as untreated water could contaminate household sanitation and communal deep wells.

Meanwhile, Maynilad Water Services, Inc. is also offering its septic tank cleaning services to the western parts of Metro Manila.

Select areas in Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Manila, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Quezon City, Valenzuela, and Cavite Province are called to avail Maynilad’s service.

Similar to Manila Water’s sanitation program, Maynilad aims to lessen pollution loading into Metro Manila’s river systems and to avoid water risks.

“We ask our customers to avail of this service, as it will help to protect community health and the environment,” said Maynilad Chief Operating Officer Randolph T. Estrellado in a statement.

Residents and semi-business owners who wish to inquire about Maynilad siphoning may do so by contacting Maynilad Hotline 1626. The service usually costs around PHP 4,700 per truck. (Gabriell Christel Galang)
