CEBU CITY – Suspected shabu worth more than P6 million was seized in the two-day Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO) in Central Visayas conducted by the Police Regional Office-7.
Police Lt. Col. Gerard Ace Pelare said that from September 2 to 3, one kilo of shabu amounting to P6.8 million was seized and 56 drug suspects were arrested.
Pelare, spokesperson of Police Regional Office-Central Visayas chief Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, added that 320 grams of marijuana worth P38,400 were also seized.
In the anti-illegal gambling campaign, 267 persons were arrested.
Pelare said 153 unlicensed firearms were seized and eight persons were arrested in the campaign against loose firearms.
At least 140 persons facing various charges were arrested. Pelare said 15 of them were considered most wanted.
Pelare said that as the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections near, the PRO-7 will intensify its
anti-criminality campaign.
“We will intensify our operations to track down persons who have pending arrest warrants,” said Pelare.
Pelare said regular checkpoints will be conducted as part of the campaign against loose firearms.
At least 26 persons have been arrested since the election gun ban was enforced on August 29, Pelare said.
“Let us observe the election gun ban because those who will be caught violating it will be in big legal trouble,” said Pelare.
