The Manila Police District (MPD) will launch a police basketball game called "MPD League" on Thursday, Sept. 7 in San Andres Sports Complex in Malate, Manila.
The MPD League is a project by MPD Chief Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon together with Manila Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul Servo" Nieto, fully supported by Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan.
The project aims to promote collaboration, communication, and teamwork among the personnel of the Manila Police District.
"Sa ganitong paraan ay maaari nating maipamalas ang matatag na pundasyon ng camaraderie at pagkakaisa ng ating mga kapulisan sa ating lungsod (In this way we can show the strong foundation of camaraderie and unity of our police forces in the city)," Nieto said.
It can also be a great way to enhance and promote the physical health of the police personnel.
The vice mayor said their physical bodies play an important role in their daily duties and responsibilities as public servants who secure peace and order in the City of Manila.
"Naging daan din ang proyektong MPD league para magkaroon ng bagong kagamitan ang ating mga kapulisan, tulad ng anti-drone gun at drones galing sa mga sponsor (The MPD league project also made it possible for our police to have new equipment, such as anti-drone guns and drones from sponsors)," Nieto added.
Nieto and Dizon showed appreciation to sponsors who contributed to the project.
Some of the sponsors were Team Rebel Sports Pilipinas, Storm Surge Audio, Genius Hardware Incorporation, Harbor View Restaurant, Paws and Play manila among others.
