Bulakenyos urged to join 3rd Quarter Nationwide Earthquake Drill
Bulakenyos were urged by Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) Chairwoman and Calumpit, Bulacan Mayor Glorime Faustino on Wednesday, Sept. 6, to join the 3rd Quarter Nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill 2023 to be held on Thursday, Sept. 7.
Faustino and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) officials in the municipality said everyone can watch the online ceremony by pressing the button on the official Facebook page of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) at 2:00 p.m. and participate by doing the "duck, cover, and hold" drill.
She said the earthquake drill will be conducted to continue to instill public earthquake preparedness for the "Big One", a strong earthquake that is feared to hit the country anytime.
The mayor said everyone should support the quake drill of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) under its #BidaAngHanda campaign throughout the country.
Among the contingency plans that were tackled in the earthquake's worst-case scenarios are the evacuation routes and first aid treatment.
The exercise underscores the importance of responding well to emergencies and disasters, particularly the 7.2 magnitude earthquake predicted by experts and eventually generated by the West Valley Fault that traverses several cities in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Laguna, and Cavite.
