Manila LGU to hold Mr. Manila pageant, Kultura Manila fashion show
The City of Manila local government will hold the Mr. Manila pageant and the Kultura Manila fashion show in October to redefine culture and elegance in the capital city.
The activities will be undertaken in partnership and collaboration with private organizations and advocacy groups.
Manila Vice Mayor Yul Servo Nieto said both events aim to remind and connect the Manileños to their legacy and attributes inherited from the past.
“We want to help the Manileños better understand their current lives by knowing the legacy of their past. This is also another way to introduce the value of cultural heritage to the new generation,” he added.
Following the success of the Miss Manila pageant, Mr. Manila will be held on Oct. 20, where candidates will be judged not only based on their looks and physique, but also on their intelligence and wit.
The male pageant is open to residents and workers in Manila, including students enrolled in the city's schools.
Meanwhile, the Kultura Manila will be held at the historic and redeveloped Jones Bridge in Binondo on Oct. 8.
The fashion event will highlight the birth of Manila fashion styles and their significance "as markers of the Manileños human evolution."
Various creations of famous Manila fashion designers will be featured in the show.
