
Welding sparks reportedly started a fire in an old commercial building in Malate, Manila on Thursday, Sept. 7.
The Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) said the fire started inside the old Grand Boulevard Hotel on Roxas Boulevard in Malate.
According to the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO), there were workers in the building doing welding on the third floor.
The glowing coal from the welding reportedly dropped on the waste on the ground floor of the building which started the fire.
According to the BFP, the fire was raised to the first alarm at 9:13 a.m.
The fire was put under control at 9:35 a.m., and declared fire out at 9:51 a.m.
No injuries have been reported.
