As the Christmas season traditionally begins as as early as September in the Philippines, United States Ambassador to Manila MaryKay Carlson took part in putting up Christmas decorations at the embassy’s residence in Baguio City.

The envoy showed off her creative side in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), showing a time-lapse video of her decorating a Christmas tree.
“While in the #CityOfPines, took time to decorate the residence for the holidays with the help of our @DFAPHL colleagues,” she wrote on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
“#LoveThePhilippines’ ber month traditions and long holiday season! #Baguio #MaryKayOnTheWay,” the envoy added.
Carlson gave a tour of the residence in several photos she posted on the social media site.
“‘Let's light our Christmas trees for a bright tomorrow!’ Great fun and teamwork resulting in these two fully decorated (Christmas tree) at the American Residence in #Baguio,” her post, which quoted a popular Christmas song by a local artist, read.
Photos of two Christmas trees—one decked in gold and silver and another in the traditional red, green, and gold—were also shared on X.
The envoy gave more details about the Christmas decorations at the embassy residence.
“A glimpse at some of the other holiday decorations inside the American Residence in #Baguio,” Carlson captioned her photos.
She then showed photos of garlands and mistletoes wrapped around the residence’s staircase and fireplace, as well as three tabletop Christmas trees placed in front of a framed photograph of historical figures in American politics.
