FRESH OFF THE SEAS Dive into a gastronomical experience with the extensive selection of Japanese sushi

There’s something about going to a buffet that gets the mind racing every time. Even the thought of it is so enticing. Under one roof, you’ll find yourself transported to places stretched around the world. Can you already imagine the rows of food from different cultures just waiting to tickle your tastebuds?

There’s no denying that the beauty of going through a buffet is deciding where you’d like to take your palate next. For instance, try to think about the first dish you often spring for when at a buffet. Do you look for something familiar? Perhaps a local staple like chicken adobo or bistek Tagalog sided with a generous serving of garlic rice. Or are you the type to take risks and try dishes you wouldn’t normally encounter elsewhere? Sushi comes to mind, as not every other dining establishment can offer it fresh from the catch. Then there’s the matter of topping it all off with the perfect dessert dish. Are you the type to cool down after a big meal by scooping out your ice cream flavor of choice or do you indulge yourself with various sweet treats and mini cakes?

CRAVING FOR CARVINGS A juicy serving of roast beef is offered as part of the dinner buffet exclusive

Wherever your taste might bring you, it’s clear that a buffet is an easy way to try out dishes we mostly dream of on a regular basis.
It’s great timing then to hear that The Café, from City of Dreams’ Hyatt Regency Manila, has reopened its doors for lunch and dinner buffet dining. The Café has just about every dish you can dream of as each station reflects a destination, regional produce, or culture, allowing guests to seek out what they’re craving and more. Its menu cycles provide a different dining experience during the week, providing a chance to explore what can satiate your appetite.

You can find yourself taken as far as Italy at their designated pasta station. Simply pick whatever ingredients you’d like to mix in with your preferred pasta and the chef does all the rest. We recommend pairing it with some cold cuts and cheeses from the charcuterie station. Top it off with the bread you love. It’s worth noting that the focaccia bread with kesong puti is so soft it practically melts in your mouth. For the self-proclaimed carnivores out there, the Carving of the Day serves as a dinner buffet exclusive. Just thinking about the juicy roast beef is enough to make the mouth water.

CHARCUTERIE DELIGHT Form your own charcuterie board selecting from the available cold cuts and cheeses on display

For those leaning toward healthier options, the seafood and salad options will not disappoint. Have a go at either the premium Japanese sushi selection or, if you’re lucky, go for the crowd-favorite Baked Salmon before it runs out. Diners can also select options such as prawns, crab, and clams prepared in whichever way they fancy. Chefs are on standby at their live cooking stations to cater to guests’ requests. Next to the seafood station lies the usual Asian favorites where you can fill yourself with your favorite dim sum or other classic staples such as Beef with Broccoli. Plus, there’s a wide range of soups and noodle dishes to choose from.

Finally, the dessert station felt like stepping into Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. It’s a sweet tooth paradise! Various candies, of the sweet or sour variety, fill up large jars. Every sweet treat you could possibly think of lines up in a row filled with chocolates, macarons, marshmallows, and more. If it’s available, The Café offers an exclusive treat known as the “croffle,” a mix of a croissant and waffle. It’s a crispy treat topped with a generous scoop of ice cream, drizzled with sprinkles, chocolate syrup, and a few select fruits.
