The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has proposed projects and programs in the north for collaboration with Japanese investors through public-private partnerships.
In a statement, Joshua M. Bingcang BCDA president and chief executive officer, said the agency is seeking potential Japanese partners for projects in New Clark City, Clark Freeport Zone, and Clark International Airport.
Among the proposals presented by Bingcang include the 100-hectare mixed-use Clark Central Business District and the 35-hectare affordable residential complex in Clark Freeport Zone and New Clark City.
Additional plans involved the 22-hectare Clark International Convention and Exhibition Complex, the implementation of Common ICT Infrastructure in New Clark City, and the construction of a data center colocation facility.
“As we move forward, we see immense potential for collaboration and investment in Clark and the Philippines,” Bingcang said.
Currently, there are 10 Japanese companies operating within the Clark Freeport Zone, including Yokohama and Taiyo Nippon Sanso.
BCDA has also formed partnerships with various entities for the development of the 9,450-hectare New Clark City.
These include Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corp. for Transport and Urban Development, Nippon Koei, and Keio University for the master plan.
Additionally, collaborations with The Kansai Electric Power Co. Inc., Chubu Electric Power, and Marubeni are in place for smart utilities in New Clark City.
Lastly, New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization and Zenmov, Inc. are involved in a three-year demonstration project on smart mobility solutions for both Clark and New Clark City.
“Our partnership with Japan continues to flourish, as evidenced by the remarkable progress in these high-impact projects for New Clark City,” the BDCA chief concluded.
