Ambuklao, Binga dams continue to release water; Ipo dam halts spilling operations

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Ambuklao and Binga dams continued to release water on Wednesday, Sept. 6 after days of heavy rains caused by the enhanced southwest monsoon or “habagat.”
Meanwhile, Ipo Dam stopped its spilling operations on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
PAGASA said Ambuklao and Binga dams each have three gates open as of 9 a.m., Wednesday.
Ambuklao Dam’s water level reached 751.05 meters, close to its 752-meter normal high, while Binga Dam’s level was 573.76 meters, also close to its 575-meter normal high.
PAGASA has warned that water discharge from the Ambuklao and Binga dams in Benguet may affect Barangay Ambuklao in Bokod town, as well as Barangays Dalupirip and Tinongdan in Itogon town.
Meanwhile, Ipo Dam in Bulacan has stopped its spilling operations at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, as its current water level is “now below the spilling level of 101 meters.”
According to PAGASA, the water level in Ipo Dam is 100.61 meters as of 6 a.m. on Wednesday.
“With this development, unless significant rainfall occurs that will affect the Angat River significantly, this is the [final] general flood advisory for this event,” PAGASA said in its final flood advisory for the Angat River.
