12 gun ban violators nabbed in Western Visayas

ILOILO CITY – Police have arrested 12 civilians in Western Visayas for violating the gun ban in the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections next month.

The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 said these individuals were apprehended in checkpoint operations spearheaded by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) since August 28.

Arresting units were the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), Capiz Police Provincial Office, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RFMB)-6.

Police Major Mary Grace Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson, said that other weapons such as blades and knives and toy guns are also prohibited during the gun ban.
