Lenovo Legion Go heats up the handheld competition
The new challenger in handheld gaming consoles with FPS mode and ultra-HD display

What a time for handheld gaming consoles. PlayStation is making a comeback with the Portal, Steam with their Steam Deck, ASUS and the ROG Ally, and now, Lenovo with the Legion Go – which is more of a shot at the Nintendo Switch with its impressive screen and detachable controllers.
Besides the touchpad, Lenovo has what they call FPS mode, where the right detached controller can be placed on a base and be used as a mouse. While the right controller can be used as a mouse, the left controller can be used as WASD. This is interesting because this hints you can play FPS games with more precision, MOBA games like League and DOTA 2, and CRPGs like Baldur’s Gate 3. This is something we’ll be very excited to try out for ourselves.
The Legion Go has an 8-inch 2560x1600 screen resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. You get 16GB RAM and up to 1TB internal storage. Okay, not bad so far. You do get an SD card reader if 1TB is not enough for you, or if you decide to boost another memory option instead. It’s also powered by AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme, which is one of the best chips used for devices like the Legion Go right now.
Most importantly, the very thing that a lot of these handhelds seem to miss or just can’t quite get right (yet) is the kickstand. The Legion Go has a pull panel kickstand, which gives it a very stable position when placing it down. That’s quite a big win.
The Lenovo Legion Go has been showcased at IFA 2023. No doubt Lenovo will get feedback there on how to polish the handheld. We'll let you know more details if we get our hands on this device soon.
